
Economic Development for Local Leaders
In partnership with the International Economic Development Council, The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation will be sponsoring this special training course for local leaders and economic developers on the essentials of economic development.
This intensive training course is designed as a two-day classroom-style “boot-camp,” which emphasizes the system and practice of economic development. It will help community leaders and economic developers learn more about the state, federal, and private sector resources that are available to assist them with various aspects of economic development.
The interactive course provides participants with practical tools and inspiring examples to support critical economic development and resilience activities.
Modules in the course include:
- An overview of the system and practice of economic development
- Existing business retention and expansion
- Economic development marketing
- Workforce development, resiliency, and economic recovery
- Supporting entrepreneurs and small business
- Economic development strategic planning
- How to use federal and state economic development tools
