In 2024, we marked our 62nd year as the Greater Kanawha Valley’s trusted community endowment builder. Our mission has always been clear: to help donors, nonprofits, and collaborative partners strengthen our community, ensuring that all people and places we serve have the opportunity to thrive. At the heart of this mission is an unwavering belief in the power of unity, collaboration, and compassion.

Challenges in our state remain abundant, and the path to progress is rarely smooth. Yet, in these moments of adversity, our community’s true spirit shines brightest. In these moments, we unite—resilient and determined—to build pathways toward a better future.

Building Bridges to Solutions
Our 2024 theme, A Bridge to Solutions: Igniting Hope and Fueling Impact, reflects the Foundation’s dedication to fostering connections—between individuals, organizations, and ideas. A bridge is more than just a physical structure; it symbolizes hope and possibility, a testament to our collective ability to overcome barriers and reach new horizons.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope.” These words, spoken just two months before his passing, remind us that setbacks are an inevitable part of progress. Yet, even in the face of disappointment, we must remain steadfast in our hope—hope that fuels action, inspires change, and drives us toward a shared vision for a better tomorrow.

Hope in Action: Our 2024 Impact
Hope alone is not enough; it must be coupled with action. Through strategic investments, targeted initiatives, and grassroots support, we have worked to transform lives and address the root causes of inequity.

In 2024, our Foundation received $4,833,242 in contributions from individuals and organizations committed to change. We established 11 new funds, bringing our total to 591 managed funds. Our unwavering commitment to impactful grantmaking focused on health, education, community economic development, basic needs, and arts and culture.

• 130 discretionary grants totaling $3,305,768 positively impacted the lives of over 800,000 West Virginians.
• 539 donor-advised fund grants allocated $7,289,134 to vital community initiatives.
• 260 donor-designated grants totaling $3,306,864 strengthened nonprofit programs across the region.
• $1,619,950 in scholarships empowered 525 students to pursue their educational dreams.
• In total, we distributed over $15.5 million in grants and scholarships, demonstrating our commitment to meaningful and lasting impact.

As of the close of 2024, our total assets under management reached $348,418,905, reinforcing our responsibility as diligent stewards of philanthropic resources for the betterment of our community.
