Charleston Rotary Club Members

Your support is needed to help us implement our program of service to the community… we cannot do our work without your financial and volunteer support! This year we will:

Improve Literacy

We will continue the immensely popular and successful Dictionary Project for 3rd graders at four Kanawha County Schools that have identified literacy needs for their students.
(Volunteer Time and $400 of Fundraising Needed)

Extend the Joy of the Holiday Season to Needy Families

We will help sponsor Keep the Faith’s West Side community Thanksgiving Dinner celebration by providing the 50 turkeys for meal’s main course; and the Union Mission’s Adopt-A-Family Christmas program so that a needy family can experience the joy of the season through the generosity of the Rotary community.
(Volunteer Time and $3,750 in Fundraising Needed)

Feed the Hungry

We will support Mountaineer Food Bank’s mission to feed families, children, seniors, veterans and individuals who are at risk of hunger.
(Volunteer Time Needed)

We will also partner with Family HealthCare Centers to provide emergency food to 100 patients located in Boone, Kanawha, and Putnam counties who have an immediate need for food. Patients will be identified as having a need at the time of their medical visit. Once identified, patients will be offered emergency shelf stable food. Participants will also be referred to other services/programs within FamilyCare, such as a referral to a social worker, eligibility specialist, and/or other medical service to further meet their needs.
(District Rotary Grant of $2,000)

Promote Healthy Lifestyles for Kids

Through our new partnership with the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta’s bike give-a-way we will donate bikes to 100 income eligible kids. Presentation of the bikes will be made at the USA Cycling event in May. As an add on activity, we will provide volunteers to assist on the race course.
(Volunteer Time and $7,000 Fundraising Needed)

We must raise $11,000 to fully fund these projects.

Please give today at a level comfortable for you. All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
