TGKVF – Annual Report to the Community 2024 Highlights

The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation’s 2025 Annual Report to the Community brought donors, partners, and local leaders together at the Clay Center for an evening celebrating the power of philanthropy with purpose. The event highlighted a year of meaningful progress across the Foundation’s six-county service area and beyond, with a focus on building thriving, resilient communities throughout West Virginia. The Foundation closed 2024 with more than $348 million in assets under management—its highest to date—and awarded $1.6 million in scholarships to students across the region. These figures represent more than financial growth; they reflect an expanding commitment to education, equity, and opportunity for all. A central focus of the evening was the Foundation’s long-term investment on Charleston’s West Side, where $1.6 million has been invested to support community-driven change. Leaders shared how this work has gone far beyond individual grants to support lasting relationships, collaborative infrastructure, and a deeper understanding of neighborhood needs. The message was clear: real impact is rooted in trust, listening, and sustained partnership. The evening also featured the premiere of the 2025 Change Maker films—spotlighting five nonprofit organizations recognized for their outstanding contributions to arts, education, health, basic needs, and community development. These stories demonstrated how local leaders and grassroots efforts are shaping a stronger future for the region. With inspiring speeches, heartfelt community stories, and a packed house, the Annual Report to the Community underscored the Foundation’s belief that philanthropy, when done with intention and humility, can serve as a bridge to a better future.
